Timeline

The history of the Royal Society is the history of scientific endeavour. Since the enlightenment, we have been at the centre of research across medicine and the sciences.

As part of our 350th Anniversary, we are looking back over centuries of achievement, made up of discoveries and inventions that have shaped the world we live in today. We have compiled a timeline featuring just some of the events that our Fellows have been involved in.

But interesting as our rich heritage may be, it cannot compare with the excitement and promise the future holds.
